Film Directing One Week Intensive

Lavinia is an award-winning filmmaker, director, writer and producer.
She is also a scriptwriter and has worked on scripts for Indie films,
TV series and theatre plays. With a background in classical music, she
holds a BA from the National University of Theatre and Film in Bucharest
and an MA in Performance art from Goldsmiths University. 

Her directorial debut, ‘Memento Amare,’ the story of a Romanian
construction worker separated from his family and living in
Brexit-Britain, has won her a few international awards and received
great critical reviews.

Lavinia’s recent Drama, ‘Acceptable Damage,’ opened to a sold-out
audience and can be watched on SKY and Amazon Prime. The film won
multiple awards including semifinalist at the Glasgow International Film
Festival and Los Angeles CineFest, and brought Lavinia her first two
nominations as Best Director at the Idyllwild Indie Film Festival in the
US. 

Her classes are inspiring, immersive, creative and completely practical.

The British Urban Film Festival has
opened its doors for an annual festival celebrating independent
productions and the cast and crew who make them.

The event launched last night, and named the London born actor and
director Noel Clarke, as the recipient of its honorary award for his 20
year career in the industry.

Tanya Francis spoke to two of the directors nominated for prizes - Lavinia Simina and Luke Hefferman

Both their films, Acceptable Damage and Stray Dog, will be screened at the MET film school in Ealing on Wednesday.
